Sculling Blades
Our ZJ sculling blades give you every conceivable option to customise your blades to your individual needs. Which ever version you choose, you always pay one prize, based on the Shaft type. You have the choice of seven blade shapes, four shaft varieties and three length ranges and different diameters for your handles.
The shaft types vary by the amount of Carbon fibre as part of the matting. We offer the shafts in four different types, which differ in their weight and stiffness (flex).
All our blades are length adjustable with different ranges depending on type of shaft and type of handle. You can choose between the length ranges “short” (280cm to 285), “medium” (283cm to 288) or “long” (285cm to 290cm).
The Macon version only is also available as a fixed length of 297 in the hybrid version, or as adjustable length with a range from 294cm to 299cm
All blades are manufactured with 0⁰ degree pitch. Custom set pitch is available upon request.
Shaft types and flex
Hybrid
20% carbon and 80% glass-fibre shaft, designed for durability and to give you more confidence and higher control by bringing more weight onto the gates. Each blade weighs 1650 grams, (+/- 20 grams ). Standard flex is 4.4cm to 4.9cm.
Standard
50% carbon and 50% glass-fibre shaft. An all-round, durable blade for club level use, training and competition. Each blade weighs 1500 grams, (+/- 20 grams ). Standard flex is 3.9cm to 4.3cm.
Light
80% carbon and 20% glass-fibre shaft. A light and versatile blade for use in clubs, as well as for elite level training and racing. Each blade weighs 1400 grams, (+/- 20 grams ). Standard flex is 3.5cm to 3.8cm.
Ultralight
100% carbon shaft. A blade for performance athletes who are looking for the lightest and stiffest possible shaft. The reduction of flex is notable, and best suited to develop and maintain high precision movement patterns. However, the lack of flex should be taken into consideration when choosing the corresponding blade shape, generally we recommend this shaft only for people with well developed technique and sufficient power. Each blade weighs 1300 grams, (+/- 20 grams ). Standard flex is 3.0cm to 3.4cm.
Blade Shapes
With Falcon Racing Boats you can choose between seven different blade shapes.
ZJ-SD Smoothie Vortex Edge; 21cm wide, 46 cm long
The ideal all-rounder performance blade with a great character and pressure profile during the stroke. Clear catches and easy extraction, with the pressure building up relatively quickly after the catch.
ZJ-FD Big Smoothie Vortex Edge; 23 wide, 46 long
This is made for athletes who seek to get maximal pressure early during the stroke. Ideal for firm catches and building the pressure fast. Especially suited for use in faster boats.
ZJ-BD Big Vortex Edge; 23cm wide, 46 cm long
Principally the same shape than our Big Smoothie Vortex Edge. The additional ridge helps the blade to stay stable in the water during the stroke and avoiding washing out.
ZJ-S Smoothie; 21cm wide, 46cm long
The pressure is here more evenly spread during the stroke, with great entry and extraction characteristics.
ZJ-NS Wide Smoothie; 22cm wide, 43.5cm long
Similar characteristics than the classic Smoothie shape, with more emphasis on getting more pressure at the catch. Still great entry and extraction characteristics.
ZJ-B Cleaver, 23cm wide, 43 cm long
A great all rounder. The additional ridge helps the blade to stay stable in the water during the stroke and avoiding washing out.
ZJ-M Macon; 17cm wide, 50 cm long
The ideal blade for Beginners. The ridge provides stability in the water. Due to the lower and a pressure profile with more pressure in the middle to the latter part of the stroke in the water this blade shape does help reducing the pressure on athletes backs. Great for athletes who are still developing their physique or the right technique.
When choosing the Macon blade, please be advised that this is normally only available with the Hybrid and Standard shaft due to the intended use for beginners.
Handles
All of our handles are produced from a carbon/glass fibre mix and allow for length adjustments of 5 cm.
You can choose between three handle diameters:
Orange: 31mm diameter
Purple 34mm diameter
Green 35mm diameter
